Black Enterprise is the premier business, investing, and wealth-building resource for African Americans. Since 1970, Black Enterprise has provided essential business information and advice to professionals, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, and decision makers. Black Enterprise reaches its audiences through four content channels: Events, Digital, Video, and Publishing.
Black Enterprise is looking for a highly knowledgeable and capable Freelance Staff Writers. The new Black Enterprise editorial structure requires the writer to be well versed in black news and business culture.
This new position is a high-volume content production writer. The Freelance Staff Writer will be required to write 5 pieces of content daily between 300-500 words.
Responsibilities:
- Source story ideas from the web, social platforms, and multiple editorial analytical platforms
- Write on average 5 articles daily
- Periodically interview subjects for original content stories for the Black Enterprise site and its social accounts
- Occasionally create copy for text-over-image videos for the Black Enterprise's site and social accounts
- Serve as back up for the Digital Editors by helping produce content from freelance writers and site contributors
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years experience in writing for a digital publisher
- Ability to write and edit quickly without compromising brand integrity, voice or mission
- Belief in analytical driven story sourcing and article production
- Passion for black news, business, and entrepreneurship
- A strong work ethic and a self-starter
- Working knowledge of WordPress or similar CMS
- Familiarity with Crowdtangle, Newswhip, or other content sourcing platform
- Dependable and consistent
