Plant Overview:

  • 3-Shift Operation
  • Non- Union Facility with approximately 200 hourly staff members which are a mix of temporary and full-time associates.
  • 100% Food Service- 4 bag soup lines- 1 tub line- 18 Kettles- 5 Filling lines- and 4 packaging lines.
  • Products include Frozen Soups and Macaroni & Cheese
  • Company History: Kraft Heinz in Cedar Rapids started as Ashby Soups and was originated in the mid 1980's by Jamie and Shannon Ashby- along with their mother- using family held recipes for many kinds of soups. In the 1990s' the name was changed to Quality Chef Foods. Heinz acquired Quality Chef foods in the mid 2000's. In 2015 Kraft and Heinz merged to become Kraft Heinz as we know it today.

Kraft Heinz in Cedar Rapids is looking for candidates that want to make great soups! Ensure the machines are setup correctly and ensure all products are being run efficiently with special attention to quality and safety.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Operate Raque machinery
  • Change / Adjust rolls of film
  • Change printer solution
  • Adjust weights- change labeler- adjust speed- and load trays
  • Working knowledge of metal detector / X-Ray procedures
  • Be able to reset alarms on Spiral HMI
  • Perform line cleans
  • Identify quality seal
  • Ability to start and reset channelizer
  • Knowledge of the spiral freezer/channelizer alarms.
  • Understand and complete required paperwork / IQS Entries
  • Knowledge of yield- downtime- HACCP- batch
  • Knowledge of Quality- Safety and HR protocol
  • Make air pressure and denester adjustments; have a thorough understanding of SPC
  • Proficiency operating both the Raque and Onpack (Bag on Tub)
  • Thorough understanding of the check weigher pertaining to yields (SPC)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Raque computer screens
  • Knowledge of cook kettle air valve
  • Advanced troubleshooting and ability to make minor repairs (i.e. change/clean printer head on Video Jet; film mandrel adjustments; change filler hose)
  • Advanced knowledge of cook/fill process (be able to troubleshoot problems—ie: thin/thick product- seal head concerns- etc.)
  • Ability to change CIP pipes and assemble Raque
  • All other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • Learn and work in the SAP and other systems.
  • Work within an Inventory Lot Control Environment.
  • Troubleshoot with little supervision.
  • Maintain Allergen Segregation.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once using good organizational skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Responsible for following all Food Safety Policies and Safety Procedures.
  • Responsible for Q-RMP standards implementation as defined by the accountability list document.
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess good organizational skills.
  • Must have basic knowledge in equipment care and maintenance.
  • Must be able to perform well under stress.
  • Working conditions include extremes of hot and cold temperatures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Must ensure quality products are being packaged.
  • Employees will follow all safety protocols and perform their job responsibilities in a safe manner. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
