Job Title: Drafting Quality Assurance

Scope of Responsibility: Drafting Quality Assurance is responsible for reviewing and verifying quality and customer standards are met and maintained on all drawings. They will be responsible for identifying and participating in processes improvements that impact key operational metrics related to quality and productivity and advise and educate drafting personnel on corrective actions. The Drafting Quality Manager will have full responsibility and authority over the quality team and quality programs within the Dept. to ensure zero errors.
Essential Duties:
Drawing Quality Assurance: 85%
- Responsible to ensure the quality of fabrication and construction drawings prepared by drafting department prior to release for customer approval and/or production.
- Uses and understands Sabre Tubular Structures (STS) Drafting Standards, STS Engineering information, manufacturing parameters and customer s technical specifications to ensure quality standards.
- Under the guidance of senior staff, perform a Quality Check of drawings for completeness and accuracy and identify any missing or incorrect information and provide markups and feedback to drafting to update drawings.
- Act as liaison between Drafting and downstream processes to manage customer markups and/or shop requests for drawing clarifications or revisions, customer approval, and/or field issues as necessary.
- Maintain inspection records to monitor, report, and identify opportunities for improvement on drafting quality performance
Quality Improvement: 15%
- Initiate and manage the Root Cause Analysis process and actively participate with the drafting department in evaluating errors to identify corrective and preventative actions.
- Conduct root cause analysis on quality related issues to identify areas of quality improvement.
- Periodic reviews and updates of internal documentation of customer specifications and expectations to ensure standard and cohesive drawings.
- Participate in the implementation of new methods and corrective actions as necessary.

Position Requirements:
- Regular and timely attendance is required
- Associate Degree in Drafting or Associate Degree in related science major with 8 to 10 years of checking and/or drafting experience.
- 2 to 5 years of checking experience of transmission and/or substation tubular structures along with the ability to understand the concepts related to the products produced.
- Working knowledge of CAD, preferred experience in AutoCAD 2016+ or Inventor 2019+.
- Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently w/ minimal supervision.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills required for a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of fingers, hands and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching. Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials.
- Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.
- Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.
