Allonnia is a newly launched technology company focused on using biology to unlock the potential in waste. Allonnia is backed by Battelle, Ginkgo Bioworks, Viking Global, General Atlantic, Evok, and Cascade Investments. Allonnia is finding new answers to the growing challenge of waste remediation and upcycling enabled by Ginkgo Bioworks' advanced synthetic biology capabilities.

Allonnia's purpose is to create transformative solutions for a waste-free world through leveraging the power of biotechnology and engineering systems that degrade pollutants and upcycle waste.

Mission of the Position

The mission of the People & Talent Partner is to continue to build a best-in-class team of mission driven superior talent through recruitment management and talent selection, develop tools to support a growing organization, and develop talent strategies and tactics necessary for creating and maintaining an extraordinary place to work.

Key Criteria/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 5+ years experience with progressively greater responsibilities and success in Human Resources
  • 4+ years experience of in-house recruiting in fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Experience partnering with hiring managers to bring in top talent
  • Experience in Biotech, Industrial, or highly technical companies
  • Knowledge of and drive to stay abreast of HR best practices and trends
  • A growth mindset and truly flexible. You can shift tasks and priorities when circumstances change
  • Experience hiring senior level executives preferred
  • Experience hiring scientist preferred Experience with visa programs preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an appropriate blend of professionalism and friendliness

Responsibilities & Measurable Accountabilities


Implement Allonnia hiring and onboarding best practices

  • Job scorecards for 100% of roles
  • Attract diverse candidate pool (50%)
  • Hire A players (80%+ at all levels; 100% at executive team)
  • Drive (with hiring mgrs.) the hiring process for 10-20 hires per year
  • Manage ATS
  • Manage external recruiters
  • Positive feedback from new hires

Refine and manage coaching process throughout the organization

  • Documented coaching process
  • Train new managers on the coaching process

Develop and manage intern program

  • Develop relationships with 3 local universities
  • Recruit, hire and onboard 2 interns a year

Develop compensation strategy


  • Documented compensation strategy with CEO, CoS and Board approval

Refine benefit package and manage benefits for the organization

  • Ensure PEO delivers at a high level
  • Do the analysis and provide recommendations on benefit changes to ensure Allonnia is competitive
  • Manage open enrollment for benefits in timely and employee-friendly way
  • Manage 401k to minimize non-discrimination risk

Build the Allonnia Brand

  • Develop handbook that aligns to core values of Allonnia
